Product Description
Oak, a Norwegian progressive pop/rock band, started as a folk - rock duo. The four band members have diverse backgrounds, ranging from classical piano to electronica, prog - and hard - rock, with influences from the alternative and progressive rock scenes. This blend creates a distinct and one - of - a - kind sound.
Musically, The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise is Oak's most dynamic album to date. It showcases a wide array of influences. While it stays within the familiar Oak soundscape, it has sharper edges and unexpected twists. After their album False Memory Archive, the band aimed to write shorter songs but ended up with their longest ones yet. Like their other albums, there are subtle references to past and future songs in the Oak universe.
For this album, the band delved into an important and sensitive topic: suicide and mental health. To ensure the message is clear, they sought advice from experienced scholars on the subject. The font on the album cover is partly made from the handwriting of two real suicide notes, emphasizing the concept.
Oak draws inspiration from a vast range of sources, including classical music, impressionism, movie soundtracks, and prog - rock. That's why Oak sounds truly unique.
The album was recorded in Ljugekroken, mixed in Ghostward Studio by David Castillo (known for working with Katatonia, Leprous, Opeth, etc.), and mastered by Tony Lindgren in Fascination Street Studio.
