L.A.'s FUTURE USSES offer an amazing instrumental album featuring extremely heavy, oppressively slow, yet shimmering and rich sludge - paced rock with a touch of nightmarish psychedelia. It's hard to believe 'The Existential Haunting' is their debut. The three - piece's sound is incredibly shrewd, canny and sophisticated. Although FUTURE USSES have only played a few shows, main songwriter Sacha Dunable has 15 - year experience in INTRONAUT and has worked on various doom metal projects like BEREFT (LA). FUTURE USSES take small elements from those bands, magnifying them to blend the slow - motion crushing force of doom with INTRONAUT's atmosphere and dense harmonics. Drums and guitar were recorded at Clearlake Audio in Los Angeles with Josh Newell (INTRONAUT, CYNIC), Derek Donley (INTRONAUT, BEREFT), and bass with Jon Nunez (TORCHE). Mixing was done by CONVERGE'S Kurt Ballou at God City Studio. FUTURE USSES' rich guitar sound is built around live guitar loops, which, as Sacha Dunable says, 'presents limitations but also endless opportunities'. An instrumental record allows you to focus on setting a mood that listeners can interpret through their imagination.
To enjoy this CD, simply insert it into your CD player and let the music play. There aren't any special settings required. When handling the CD, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting fingerprints on it. Store the CD in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent warping or damage.
