The tracklist includes 'Eternal Recurrence', 'Hammers of Vulcan', 'Nekrocosm', 'Cephalic Transmissions', 'Blood Moon Eclipse', 'Unicursal Horrorscope', 'Through the Oculus', 'Return to the Void', and 'Det Uransakelige Dyp'. Execration's new album, 'Return to the Void', doesn't bring a huge stylistic change compared to the previous two. The band says it's their most compact album yet, with shorter and tighter compositions. It's catchy, complex, has a prog influence, and is full - on intense. After two double 12' vinyl albums, the goal for 'Return to the Void' was to offer the same dynamic song - writing in a more concise package. Stripping songs to their core was key during writing, and you can tell there's not a single wasted moment. At 42 minutes, it's a perfect fit for vinyl. The album takes you on a wild ride through thrash, death, black, and heavy metal, with fast and slow parts, and Execration's signature mood, tempo, and atmosphere shifts. Like the previous albums, they aimed to capture a live performance feel. All basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass) were recorded live at their Oslo rehearsal studio over a weekend. Vocals, synths, and effects were recorded later with Andreas Tylden's help. Tom Kvalsvoll of Kvalsonic Labs mixed and mastered the album. Thematically, it explores outer space, dreams, and philosophical ideas about time and space. The seven songs and two instrumentals are filled with cosmic mysteries in lyrics, concept, and music. The front - cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak makes this theme come alive. It's a Metal Blade Records item (#154942) with the code Execration - Void - 2017.
