Product Description
In the autumn of 2016, Jacob Lee (from Hellish Form and PlasticBag FaceMask) and Stephen Muir (of Cabin Fire) aimed to create a harsh and gritty grindcore band infused with sludge and black metal vibes. Inspired by bands like Trap Them, The Secret, and Rotten Sound, they launched Elder Devil as a DIY studio venture. Stephen took charge of vocals and lyrics, while Jacob handled the music and production. In 2017, they released their first EP, 'Graves Among the Roots' via Medusa Crush Recordings, and followed it up with the full - length album 'The Light Dimmed Eternal' in 2019 through Crown and Throne Ltd. and Roman Numeral Records. Soon after, Elder Devil became a full - fledged band with Ryan Urquidez (from dontcryformeimalreadydead and Cabin Fire) on bass and Pete Ruacho (from Amenthes and Nani SS) on drums. Their 2021 EP, 'Fragments of Hell' (released by PlasticSkull Records and SludgeLord Records), was their first output as a complete lineup.
Due to the pandemic, Elder Devil had to cancel almost all their shows from March 2020 to 2021, including an 11 - day West Coast tour. To showcase their full lineup performing songs from all releases, they filmed a live performance in their practice space. Filmed by their long - time cameraman and friend, Steven Thomas, and recorded and mixed by Jacob, 'Live in Chinatown' is a tribute to the Fresno music scene and their supporters. You can watch it on the band's YouTube channel, stream it on all platforms, and download it for free on their Bandcamp starting November 5th.
After signing with Prosthetic, Elder Devil is thrilled. They said, 'It's both exciting and an honor to work with a well - known label like Prosthetic. We're eager for people to hear our upcoming full - length debut on Prosthetic.'
