This deluxe digibook CD, 'Decline of the I - Wilhelm', offers a unique blend of multifaceted post - black metal and thought - provoking exploratory lyrics centered around existential philosophy. Hailing from Paris, Île - de - France, France, the band was founded by AK, an artist with an extensive background in various musical projects like Vorkreist, Merrimack, and more. 'Decline of the I' is his most personal work to date. While the first three albums were inspired by the works of French surgeon and neurologist Henri Laborit, 'Wilhelm' takes a different turn, drawing inspiration from Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. It's the second part of a new trilogy that began with 'Johannes' in 2021. Building on 'Johannes', 'Wilhelm' adds a more structured dimension, with a strictness and a backbone. AK says, 'Ethics demand an internal code, and this is evident in the loops, repetitions, and the unyielding nature of the law that runs through its five tracks, which span over 45 minutes.' It fuses abrasive, avant - garde black metal with numerous samples and elements of electro and industrial music, creating a deep dive into the angst of ethics. In 2024, Francis Caste recorded, mixed, and mastered the drums for the new album at Studio Sainte Marthe, while other instruments were recorded at the band's private studios. T.C. (Regarde Les Hommes Tomber) lent his guest vocals on 'L'Alliance Des Rats', and Vestal (Merrimack) contributed spoken words on 'L'Alliance Des Rats' and 'The Renouncer'. The stunning artwork was designed by Dehn Sora (Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega), and new band photos were taken by William Lacalmontie.
