Product Description
After MONO and THE OCEAN’s 'Transcendental' EP, this is the second part of the PELAGIC SPLIT SERIES. CULT OF LUNA's take on Fritz Lang’s 'Metropolis' film, the two - part concept album 'Vertikal, I' and 'II', was highly well - received in the heavy music scene. After its 2013 release, the band had a packed schedule, touring extensively in Europe with The Ocean and Lo!, in the US with Katatonia and Intronaut, and organizing their own London - based boutique music festival, 'Beyond The Redshift'. Naturally, the six - piece band announced a break to focus on family and other life priorities. But it wasn't a long break. While secretly working on a special project for a 2016 release, they had extra studio time to record a cover song. Guitarist and main songwriter Johannes Persson said, 'I discovered Amebix late, but it was like finding a musical father I never knew. The monolith album was ahead of its time and deserves more recognition. It was harsh, bleak, and the soundtrack of last winter for me. To cover a song without adding our own touch is pointless, so we've made some changes while keeping its essence.' THE OLD WIND, composed of members from Breach and The Ocean, stopped performing after the CULT OF LUNA - curated 'Beyond The Redshift' festival in 2014. This was mainly because vocalist and guitarist Tomas Liljedahl moved to LA, while the rest of the band is in Sweden and Germany. In February 2015, they got together in Stockholm to rehearse and record the follow - up to their 2013 critically - acclaimed 'Feast On Your Gone' album at Gröndahl studios, set for a 2016 release via Pelagic Records. The two tracks on this split EP suggest a raw, vile, cold, and abrasive direction. CULT OF LUNA's Johannes Persson said, 'We've been fans of the band since the 'Feast On Your Gone' LP, and we played with Tomas in '99 when he was in Breach. We're from the same area and scene, so the bands feel connected. Hopefully, we can take this northern musical storm on tour.' The EP title, 'Råångest', means 'raw anxiety' in Swedish. LA - based German artist Florian Bertmer created the cover, which perfectly captures this state of mind. Tracklist: Side A: CULT OF LUNA - 1. Last Will And Testament; Side B: THE OLD WIND - 1. Wooden Scythe, 2. Daugthers Of Cleanse.
