Tracks on this CD include Vermilion Moons, Wanderlust, Solitary Man, Wrath of the Universe, Tethered, Straight and Narrow, Pitch Black Prism, Never in Your Hands, and Kindred Spirits. In the progressive metal scene, guitarist Jim Matheos and vocalist John Arch are highly respected. Matheos was a key figure in Fates Warning for 35 years, and Arch was the band's original front - man. They released a classic album 'Sympathetic Resonance' in 2011 under the Arch / Matheos name. In 2019, they reunited to create 'Winter Ethereal'. This album offers a wider range of styles and perhaps deeper exploration. Over nine engaging tracks, it covers a vast sonic landscape. Matheos says, 'We both tried to step out of our comfort zones, sometimes willingly and sometimes being pushed.' Since they've worked together many times, it'd be easy to fall into old patterns, but they wanted to explore new areas. Arch agrees and notes that each song is distinct, with no repetition. It's not a concept album, yet there's an indescribable continuity between the songs after a full listen. At over an hour long, it provides a complete listening experience for fans. Metal Blade Records Item #156572. Code: ArchMatheos - Winter - 2019.
