'Devotion' is the ninth studio album from Italy's top brutal tech - death band, HOUR OF PENANCE.
HOUR OF PENANCE says, 'It's been nearly five years since Misotheism, and now we're excited to present our new work. 'Devotion' is about the uselessness of war, with no hope in sight. The album's main idea is how we, the people, blindly follow leaders who send us to die in the name of democracy, driven by imperialism and greed. The faceless crowd in the artwork worships these false idols.' Musically, it builds on Hour of Penance's 20 - year - old fast - paced style, adding more technique and catchiness, along with epic scenes.
HOUR OF PENANCE, formed in 1999, is a well - known blackened technical and brutal death metal band from Italy. After three albums, they became an international sensation, touring across Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, and Asia with big names like Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, etc. They've always created a unique, crushing death - metal sound. While they're known for speed and brutality, they also use social metaphors in their music and lyrics.
The new album 'Devotion' features long - time members Giulio Moschini (guitars), Paolo Pieri (vocals & guitars), Marco Mastrobuono (bass), and new drummer Giacomo Torti. It was recorded at Bloom Studio and Kick Studio in Italy, and mixed and mastered by Hertz Studio (known for working with Vader, Decapitated, Behemoth) in Poland.
