Side A features tracks like 'Into Ruins', 'Condemned to the Grave', 'Modus Operandi', 'Children of Stone', 'The Coroner', and 'The Shadow Archetype'. Side B includes 'Blind Obedience', 'Survival of the Sickest', 'Sulphur and Blood', 'Imperium Fall', and 'Dark Day Sunrise'. This vinyl comes with clear/black marbled vinyl, a single jacket, an A1 size poster (23' x 33'), and it's a limited edition European import. Musically, The Shadow Archetype showcases top - notch Evocation. The production is outstanding, highlighting the session drummer Per Moller Jensen's (ex - The Haunted, ex - Invocator) experienced drumming, Palmen and Exner's huge riffs, Jorde's thumping bass, and Josefsson's incredible growls. It combines the band's Swedish heritage (the start of 'Dark Day Sunrise' is a must - listen!) with modern elements. Few recent bands have made a record as powerfully heavy as this. Like Evocation's previous works, The Shadow Archetype delves into themes from vocalist/lyricist Josefsson's interest in control. The songs on this fifth full - length are more like insights from an educated adult rather than typical teenage gore and horror fancies. The title itself is inspired by Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung's theories on psychological archetypes. It's an item from Metal Blade Records, item #155045.
