Decline Of The I offers a unique blend of multifaceted post - black metal and thought - provoking exploratory lyrics that delve deep into existential philosophy. Hailing from France (Paris, Île - de - France), the band was founded by AK, with a rich background in numerous past and ongoing musical projects like Vorkreist, Merrimack, The Order Of Apollyon, Neo Inferno 262, Malhkebre, and Diapsiquir. 'Wilhelm' is his most personal work yet. While the band's first three albums drew inspiration from the works of French surgeon and neurologist Henri Laborit, 'Wilhelm' takes a new direction, inspired by the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. It is the second part of a new trilogy that started with 'Johannes' in 2021. Building on the foundation of 'Johannes', 'Wilhelm' adds a more structured dimension. AK comments that 'Ethics demand an internal code. Loops, repetitions, and the unyielding nature of a law run through its five tracks, which span over 45 minutes.' The album seamlessly combines abrasive, avant - garde black metal with various samples, as well as elements of electro and industrial music, creating a focused exploration of the angst of ethics. In 2024, Francis Caste recorded, mixed, and mastered the drums at Studio Sainte Marthe, while other instruments were recorded at the band's personal studios. T.C. (Regarde Les Hommes Tomber) provided guest vocals on 'L'Alliance Des Rats', and Vestal (Merrimack) contributed spoken words to 'L'Alliance Des Rats' and 'The Renouncer'. The stunning artwork was designed by Dehn Sora (Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega), and new band photos were taken by William Lacalmontie.
