In 2023, BATTLE BORN, a UK power - metal band from Southampton, is set to make a big splash. After signing with Los Angeles label Prosthetic Records and touring the UK in 2022, they'll release their debut album, Blood, Fire, Magic and Steel, on May 12. The album is set in Skyrim’s Windhelm, Eastmarch, featuring power - metal hymns about war, dragons, and inner courage.
BATTLE BORN has built a loyal fan base in the UK power - metal scene and beyond. Their storytelling and song - crafting skills are top - notch. Earlier singles like Bring the Metal Back and the album track Fire Storm show that they're ahead of genre traditionalists, with a flamboyant and grand sound.
Produced and engineered by Kurt Fagan at The Ranch Production House, and mixed and mastered by Orden Ogan’s Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann at Greenman Studios, the 11 - track album clearly shows the band's love for European power metal. Tracks like The Endless Grey and Ride North for Winterhold’s majesty display their ballad - making and epic - creating abilities, with rich orchestration.
BATTLE BORN pays homage to the long - standing power - metal genre while adding a youthful energy. Graphic designer Stan - W Decker (Blue Öyster Cult, Powerwolf, Dragonforce) visually captures the album in a stunning way, mirroring the bold world of the band. Blood, Fire, Magic and Steel is not just an album; it's an invitation to join the band on a perilous mission and answers the question of what Skyrim’s greatest band would sound like.
