Product Description
Hailing from Trondheim, Norway, Arabs in Aspic has been the leading force of 70s-inspired progressive rock and proto-hardrock in mid-Norway for 15 years. Their sound is a wonderful blend of loud, heavy guitars and drums, 12-string acoustics, funky bass and percussion, screaming Hammond organs, soft Rhodes, Mellotrons, and 70s synths, all topped with rich vocal harmonies. The band's debut was the mini-album 'Progeria', released on CD in 2003. Initially, their style combined the psychedelic space rock of Hawkwind with the heaviness and darkness of early Black Sabbath. At that time, they made many demos and were very active as a live band in Trondheim. Their rehearsal space was at the Hells Angels' clubhouse, which the police disliked due to some members being semi-pro ski jumpers. Now, only Jostein Smeby and Eskil Nyhus remain from the original lineup, and Tommy Ingebrigtsen and Terje Nyhus have started The Flying Norsemen, an Arabs in Aspic tribute band. 'Progeria' has been expertly remastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo. This long-out-of-print album is finally getting a proper re-release. It's an officially licensed Arabs in Aspic merchandise in a gatefold LP format. Enjoy this piece of musical history!
